Route and travel time
From Laem Sok to Bangkok is 349 km: 20 km to Trat, then Route 3 (Sukhumvit) through Chanthaburi, Rayong and Chonburi, joining Motorway 7 or the Bang Na–Trat highway on the approach to the capital. In normal traffic the drive takes about 5 hours 10 minutes.
The driver waits at the pier — you step off the boat and straight into the car. The fare is locked at booking, tolls are included, and the destination is yours: hotel, apartment, train station or airport terminal.
Planning your time
Count the whole chain: the transfer from your hotel to the pier on Koh Kood, an hour to an hour and a half on the boat, and only then 5 hours 10 minutes across the mainland. Door to door, allow at least 7 hours.
There are few sailings off the island and most leave in the first half of the day — that is what sets your departure time. Check the current timetable with the operator in advance: in low season there are fewer boats than in high season.
