Getting from Don Mueang Airport to Ban Phe Pier
A Thai Go private transfer from Don Mueang Airport to the Ban Phe pier covers 204 km and takes about 2 hours 45 minutes. Don Mueang sits north of Bangkok, so the drive east is longer than from Suvarnabhumi. The driver meets you in arrivals; the ferry ticket to Koh Samet is bought separately.
Route and travel time
From Don Mueang to Ban Phe is 204 km. The car skirts central Bangkok on the Kanchanaphisek ring road, joins Motorway 7 towards Chonburi and continues on Route 3 through Rayong province to the pier.
The drive takes about 2 hours 45 minutes, longer at rush hour on the way out of the capital. The fare is locked at booking, tolls are included, and there is no night or luggage surcharge.
Meeting you at the airport
Don Mueang mostly handles low-cost and domestic flights and the terminals get crowded. The driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign — nowhere else to walk, no desks to find.

The last ferries to Koh Samet leave in the early evening. If your flight lands late you will not make the island the same day — it is worth staying over in Ban Phe and taking the first morning sailing.
The pier and the crossing to Koh Samet
The driver drops you at the Ban Phe pier next to the ticket offices. The ticket is bought separately on the spot: the transfer ends at the pier, the car does not cross to the island.
The regular ferry takes about 40 minutes to Na Dan pier; a speedboat is faster and costs more. Ferries run to a timetable, speedboats leave once they are full.
The national park entrance fee on Koh Samet is paid in cash on the island. It is included neither in the transfer nor in the ferry ticket.
Why not a bus or a shared minibus
There is no direct eastbound service from Don Mueang at all: first a trip across the whole of Bangkok to Ekkamai, then a bus to Rayong, then a songthaew to the pier. Three changes with luggage straight after a flight.
Minibuses only leave once they are full and stop along the way. You cannot time a particular ferry with one, and in low season there are fewer sailings to the island.
