Why not a bus or the train
There is no direct transport from the airport: you would have to reach Sai Tai Mai terminal or the northern station in Bangkok, wait for a departure and then ride another 2–3 hours with stops. After a flight that is half a day on the road.
The train along the famous Death Railway runs from Thonburi a couple of times a day, but it is a slow sightseeing ride without air conditioning, not a way to travel with suitcases. Save it for a day trip once you are in Kanchanaburi.
