Phuket International Airport sits 35 km from Patong Beach — the island's busiest resort. The drive is 40–50 minutes in free flow, up to an hour during the evening peak when Patong's nightlife kicks off.

The shared shuttle (≈฿180) leaves only when every seat sells out — after a long flight that can mean 30+ minutes of waiting. If your hotel is last on the list, a 45-minute trip stretches to 1.5–2 hours.

A Taxi Meter from the official counter adds an airport surcharge of about ฿150 on top of the meter. Unofficial drivers by the terminal "forget" the meter and quote a price after the fact. Some drop you a hundred metres short of the hotel — "you can walk the rest."
