Getting from Bangkok to Koh Chang Pier
A Thai Go private transfer from Bangkok to the Laem Ngop pier covers about 325 km and takes 4 hours 45 minutes on Route 3. The car picks you up at your address in the city and drops you right at the pier where the Koh Chang ferries leave. The boat ticket is not included — this is the option for travellers who do not need a car on the island.
Route and travel time
From your address in Bangkok to Laem Ngop is about 325 km: out via Motorway 7 or the Bang Na–Trat highway, then Route 3 (Sukhumvit) through Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. In normal traffic the drive takes about 4 hours 45 minutes; at weekends and in high season add half an hour for getting out of Bangkok.
We collect you from a hotel, apartment or office at any hour. The fare is locked at booking, Motorway tolls are included, and there is no night or luggage surcharge.
At the pier
The driver drops you at the Laem Ngop ticket offices — from there you buy the ferry or speedboat ticket yourself. The transfer ends at the pier: the car does not cross to the island, which is why this option costs less than being driven to a hotel on Koh Chang.
The ferry to Koh Chang takes about 45 minutes and costs ฿100 per person, with ticket offices right at the pier. On the far side, songthaews and taxis run to the hotels and are paid separately on the spot.
Boats to Koh Mak and Koh Wai also leave from Laem Ngop and the neighbouring piers — their schedules are separate, sailings are fewer and the last ones are in the afternoon. If those islands are your destination, leave Bangkok early in the morning.
Why not a bus or a shared minibus
The bus from Ekkamai takes 5–6 hours to Trat and arrives at the bus terminal, not the pier — from there you still need a songthaew to Laem Ngop, and it waits until it fills up. With suitcases and children that is the most tiring part of the trip.
Tourist minibuses from Khao San leave on their own schedule, collect passengers around the city and stop on the way. Timing them to a particular ferry is not realistic.
A Thai Go transfer is a flat per-car fare: from ฿3,800 for a Comfort car seating up to 3 and from ฿4,450 for a Minibus seating up to 9. You leave when you want, with no waiting for other passengers.
